We are proud to present Zabb PuTawn, New York City’s most authentic destination for Northern and Northeastern Thai cuisine from Michelin-starred Chef Therdtus “Tony” Rittaprom, who learned to cook from his parents in Isan. Zabb PuTawn is a comeback of sorts for Chef Tony who won a Michelin star for his unapologetically Isan fare—Northeastern Thai delicacies like Isan style nam kradook moo, deep fried fermented pork ribs, and gaeng om, a fiery Lao-style chicken soup—at Zabb Elee in Jackson Heights, Queens, in 2015.
Zabb PuTawn combines many of the old favorites from the late Zabb Elee with Northern Thai specialties—like larb moo kua, ground pork with roasted spices from Phayao—from the menu of PuTawn which he opened in 2016 with Chanchai “Charles” Khampinchai. “I had been in the States for so many years and never had such delicious Thai food,” Khampinchai recalls of his first encounter with Chef Tony’s food at Zabb Elee. “We are proud to bring authentic Thai cuisine from our country’s Northern and Northeastern regions to the Upper East Side of New York City.”
